That 2 a.m. shift at the gas station changed how I see customers

And it's wild how one small thing like that can totally flip your whole outlook, because we're all just walking around in our own little bubbles thinking everyone else is out to get us. But really most people are just tired or distracted or worried about their own stuff, not actively trying to be mean. So when someone breaks through that bubble with a simple "thanks" or a coffee, it's this reminder that the quiet kindness is actually way more common than we give it credit for.

Watched a storm blow through and finally got why we double-check our discharge lines

That's one way to look at it, but I've been doing this long enough that I see it a little differently. Checking your lines before bad weather is just basic common sense, not some hard-learned lesson from a near miss. I've seen guys with their gear run twice as tight as yours get caught out because they trust their gear too much and ignore the real problem, which is the weather window itself. A loose fitting doesn't sink a barge, but pushing into a squall you shouldn't have is what gets people hurt. If your buddy lost a whole shift because of a single fitting, it sounds like the real issue was he was out there when he shouldn't have been in the first place.

The moon photo trick most people skip is actually stacking images

Heard a gearhead on a podcast say the same thing actually...

Finally finished that 10-hour series I started 3 months ago

Call me crazy but I actually like having a show on the backburner for months. Makes the whole thing feel less like a chore and more like something I'm actually excited to get back to. I tried binging a whole season in one weekend once and by the end I was so burnt out I couldn't even tell you what happened in the first episode. Plus when you stretch it out you get to sit with the plot twists longer and think about them. More of a slow burn kind of person I guess.

Saw a post about 'quiet quitting' that actually made sense

Caught a segment on the local news about how younger workers are setting better boundaries with their time. It's a whole generational shift thing. @emma_burns96, your coworkers are probably from an era where staying late was worn like a badge of honor, even if you had nothing left to give. You're doing it right by protecting your personal life, that's not nuts at all. Setting a hard stop at 5pm just means you value your time, and honestly that's something more people should learn to do.
