inI finally toured the old power plant in Gary, Indiana last week and everyone seems to think the original riveted seams are just for show.
Exactly, that flexibility is key. Modern codes often forget that not everything needs to be welded solid.

inThat moment a simple wire pin got me on a cold ramp in Denver
I mean, I'd be worried about that zip tie fix holding up under pressure. Maybe a dab of sealant on the connector itself would be better?

inMy internet went out and the two support calls were night and day
Totally. My cable company did the same thing. They'd make you reboot your modem three times while reading from a script. I finally learned to just say "intermittent connection drops" right at the start. That was the magic phrase that got you a real tech who could see the signal levels were actually garbage. It's such a dumb game to play with customers.

inI think the push for epoxy floors in every garage is overkill
That "looked great for 48 hours" line hits hard. I had the same thing happen with a dropped socket set, just a little chip that shows all the gray underneath and drives me nuts. I ended up just putting down those interlocking garage tiles over the epoxy mess.

inPSA: My kid's broken toy last week made me see loops in a new way
Nah, a for loop is still checking one wire at a time, just really fast. It's still a step-by-step process, not all at once. The computer just does each step so quick it looks instant. That's the whole trick of it, really. Makes you think it's doing everything together when it's not.
