Warning: Overheard a guy at the game store bragging about never reading the rulebook

Ha, I gotta say I'm with the rulebook-skipper on this one! @stellas56, I get why you'd be mad about ruined Brass but honestly, learning as you go is how you actually learn to play. Reading a rulebook before you touch the game is like studying a recipe before you've ever tasted the dish - you don't know what matters until you mess up a few times. The real problem isn't skipping the rules, it's playing heavy games with people who can't handle a little chaos. I've taught games cold to new groups and it's way more fun when everyone discovers the mechanics together rather than pretending to know what they're doing from a manual. Besides, half the time those rulebooks are written badly anyway. Why spend an hour reading something you'll forget by turn three?

Dispute letters are overrated - I fixed my credit by actually calling the credit bureau

I mean sure, but the bigger issue is that these calls are getting way too good at sounding real. My dad almost fell for one last week because they had his full name, address, and even knew his bank. They're not just calling from the kitchen anymore. They're pulling data from leaks that are years old and making themselves sound completely legit. It's scary how much they can get their hands on just from a few seconds of conversation.

Had a client in my chair yesterday who said she only washes her face with bar soap and water, nothing else

@leo_mason are you serious? I gotta find these magic bars.

I had to pick between covering for my boss or telling the truth to a client.

Oh man, a friend of mine once had to cover for their coworker's screw up and it still bugs them.

Overheard a janitor say the same vacuum has lasted 12 years and it got me thinking

Are you serious, a janitor got 12 years out of a vacuum? That's wild. My old job went through a new one every 18 months like clockwork because the boss said they were "unsanitary" just from looking dusty. I worked there for 5 years and saw them toss at least 3 perfectly good vacuums that just needed a good cleaning and a new belt. It makes me mad thinking about all that plastic and metal going to a landfill for no reason. Have you ever tried to fix one yourself after work or did they just refuse to let you touch it?
