inMy small repair shop in Hamtramck just hit 500 service jobs for the year
But what's the size of the workforce there, @adam_butler38? That number could be a big deal for a small city. It's all about the scale you're looking at.

inMy wife said my half-built shed is just 'creative procrastination'
Honestly just mark your cuts with a pencil first. Tbh it's way less scary when you can see the line before you commit.

inA guy at the flea market said he just throws out any camera with a stuck shutter
Last year I found a Minolta X-700 with a dead capacitor for five bucks. I watched a few videos, ordered the part for another three dollars, and had it working in an hour. For me, the line is usually cost and complexity. If the repair needs a special tool I don't have or the part costs more than the camera's worth, I might stop. But a simple mechanical jam or a common electronic fix is often worth the try. It keeps another piece of history working.

inWarning: Saw a shop in Tacoma running a 3/4 end mill at 10k rpm for aluminum
I used to think you could push those speeds for a quick rough pass, but seeing a 3/4" end mill explode at 8500 rpm in a nearby shop changed my mind. The math might say it's possible, but the risk just isn't worth it. I wouldn't go over 6500 for a tool that size now.

inRemembering the night I tried to set up a new tent in the dark near Flagstaff
Absolutely, it's like they're solving problems nobody actually has. My new smart TV has a menu system that takes ten clicks just to change the input, when the old one had a single button. Why do we need an app for a washing machine? Just give me a dial to turn. Feels like change for the sake of change, not to make things better.
