inMy basement floor went from damp to dry in a single weekend
Read a whole article about gutters causing most basement leaks.

inMy neighbor insisted I soak my moonflower seeds in warm water before planting
Hold on, I've actually had the total opposite happen. I soaked some morning glory seeds once and they basically turned to mush, like a bad science experiment. It can really backfire if you leave them too long or the water's too hot. @emmag40, it's not always a simple bath, sometimes it's a death sentence for the seed. I stick to just planting them dry now, maybe scratch the shell a bit if they're tough. Way less risky in my book.

inJust realized the old trail to the summit in the White Mountains is getting completely rerouted this summer.
That reroute past the Alpine Garden is long overdue. Honestly, the old path was just a mudslide waiting to happen.

inMy internet was out for 3 days and the support rep told me to 'just use my phone's data' like that was a real fix.
Ugh that's the worst advice ever. I had the same thing happen last month and I just kept calling back every day asking for a supervisor. Finally got a real tech scheduled who found a broken line at the pole. Took forever but being super persistent was the only thing that worked. They really hope you'll just give up.

inMy uncle said I was over-sanding my maple face frames
My dad's old rule for sanding oak was to stop when the wood feels like a new baseball glove. That moment where it's smooth but still has some tooth to it. I see this everywhere now, like when you're stirring a sauce and just know it's thick enough, or editing a photo and removing one filter because it looked better before. We get caught in the loop of doing more, thinking it's better, when really we've already passed the good spot. Your uncle was right, you want to take off the rough stuff, not the wood itself.
