Caught my boss's side hustle at a gas station off exit 12

I pulled up to pump gas around 6 AM last Tuesday and saw my manager selling homemade jerky out of his trunk, which was awkward because I was calling in sick that day. He gave me a free bag and now I'm wondering if I should ask him for tips on scaling it, anyone else ever bump into their boss doing the same escape plan?

Walked into my own boss doing the exact same thing last summer, except he was selling honey from his bee hives out of a cooler behind the Wendy's on Route 9. I was supposed to be at my desk by 8 and there I was at 7:15 buying a jar from the guy who signs my checks. We just stared at each other for a second and then he handed me the honey and said "see you Monday." Best honey I ever had honestly. He gave me a few tips later about farmers markets and which ones actually let you set up without a million permits. If your boss is already slinging jerky at 6 AM he clearly knows the hustle, so just ask him straight up. Worst case he says no and you still got free jerky out of it.
