The stencil font I spent 3 months on just got rejected by a client

I was doing a mural in Austin and used this custom stencil technique I'd been perfecting since April, but the client said it looked 'too garage band' and wanted a plain spray pattern instead. I had already cut 47 stencil sheets by hand, and now they're sitting in my studio like a monument to wasted time. Has anyone else had a project die because a client couldn't see past the initial sample, or do I just need to pitch things differently next time?
