Vent: I blew $340 on a duct cleaning coupon before checking the vents myself
I bought one of those Groupon duct cleaning deals for $340 after a guy on the phone told me my house off Eubank was full of dust mites. He showed up with a shop vac and a spinning brush and was done in 40 minutes, and my air filter still looked gray a week later. I pulled a vent cover off myself and found maybe a quarter inch of dust, nothing like the photos he texted me. A neighbor who does HVAC work on the side came by and laughed, since he said most ABQ homes just need the registers wiped and a new filter. Has anyone here actually gotten a duct cleaning that was worth it, or is the whole thing a scam?
