My best friend moved to Phoenix 8 months ago and we went from daily texts to one call a month, so I started a Sunday phone walk
Last Sunday we talked for 40 minutes about nothing and it felt like she was still living 10 minutes away, so has anyone else had to build a fake routine just to keep a long distance friendship alive?
Why do we act like friendship only counts when it happens on its own? I've noticed this with everything now, gym, reading, calling my grandma, if it doesn't have a slot on the calendar it just doesn't happen. The weird part is the fake routine stops feeling fake after a while. It turns into the real thing, just with a schedule attached. So no, you're not being weird, you're just doing what adults have to do to keep people in their lives.
