My friend's "just say yes" advice blew up in my face last Saturday
My buddy Dave kept telling me the secret to adult friendships is saying yes to every invite, even when you're tired or broke. So when his cousin invited me to a paintball thing in Jersey City, I said yes despite having a 6 AM shift the next morning. I ended up spending $85 on gear rental and getting nailed in the shoulder so hard I couldn't lift my arm at work. Now Dave's laughing like it's my fault, and I'm wondering if declining sometimes is actually the healthier move. Has anyone else gotten burned by overly enthusiastic friend advice like this?

Did you actually think saying yes to everything was gonna build friendships, or was that just Dave's way of getting free backup for his own plans? Because $85 and a bruised shoulder sounds like a bargain compared to the stories you'd get from skipping out, and now you've got a solid one about your dumb friend's bad advice. Honestly, the real problem here isn't saying yes, it's that you didn't check the fine print on what "yes" meant, so maybe next time just say yes to the invite but no to the gear rental scam.
