Unpopular opinion: my buddy Dale saying "I don't have room for new friends" actually made me respect him more
We were grabbing coffee in Dayton after 9 months of me half trying to hang out, and he just laid it out plain: he has two kids, a job, and one night free, so he's not adding anyone new. It stung for about a minute, then I realized he was the only guy all year who didn't just say "yeah we should totally do something" and never follow up. Now I'm wondering if more people said that, we'd all waste less time pretending. Has anyone else had someone straight up tell them no new friends, and did it weirdly make things easier?
