Right? My "emergency fund" turned out to be the money I'd been accidentally putting aside for that gym membership I stopped using two years ago.

And it's wild how we fool ourselves into thinking it's actually savings. @logan_thomas87 you nailed it with that gym membership thing because I did the exact same thing with a magazine subscription I never even opened. It's like our brains see that recurring charge and just decide "well that's gone now" so we don't count it as real money. Then you check your account and realize you've been paying for something useless for eighteen months. Really makes you wonder how much cash we're all just bleeding out without noticing.
