Am I the only one who finds air fryer veggies too different from roasted ones?
I used to roast veggies in the oven with olive oil and herbs, and they'd get all soft and caramelized. Now with the air fryer, they cook faster but come out more crispy, almost like chips, which is nice sometimes. I mean, it's great for a quick snack, but idk, it doesn't feel the same as that slow roasted taste from before. Maybe it's just me, but I miss how the oven made everything smell like dinner was almost ready. I've tried lowering the temperature and shaking the basket, but they still turn out different. Has anyone else had this happen? What settings do you use for veggies to get them more like oven roasted? I'd love to hear your tricks because I don't want to give up on my air fryer for this.

Push back on this. I get soft, browned veggies from my air fryer all the time. The key is to cook them at a lower temperature for a bit longer, just like in an oven. I toss them in oil and herbs before cooking, same as for roasting. A sprinkle of water helps keep them from drying out. The air fryer saves time without losing that deep, roasted taste.

Doesn't water make them steam instead of brown, @ryanperez?

Totally get what you mean about missing that oven smell. Found that a little spray of water halfway through helps keep them from turning into chips. It's a different tool for sure, but you can get close with some tweaks.
