Friend's comment about soggy wings made me change my batter

My buddy Dave said my air fryer chicken wings tasted like "wet newspaper" and honestly he was right. I switched from a wet batter to a dry rub with a little cornstarch, and the difference was night and day after trying it on 3 batches last Sunday. Now I do 2 tablespoons of cornstarch per pound of wings and they come out crispy every time in under 25 minutes at 380 degrees. Anyone else had to tweak their wing method after getting roasted by a friend?

and honestly that's the thing, @lily_schmidt53 - we've all gotten so used to sugarcoating everything that actual honesty feels like a punch in the gut. like when my neighbor told me my new haircut made me look older, i was mad for a second but then i realized she saved me from walking around looking like someone's mom for months. people tip toe around each other so much now that when someone finally says what everyone's thinking, we act like they committed a crime. its wild how we'd rather hear a lie that feels good than a truth that helps us improve. dave probably did her a massive solid lol.
