inJust realized I've been mixing my mortar too wet for years
@jake_chen Absolutely crushed me when I found out. Still not over it honestly.

inThought hostel loyalty cards were a scam until I saved $85 in one week in Prague
Man, I can barely remember where I put my regular wallet half the time.

inWarning: I spent 3 years pulling pork shoulder wrong at my shop in Omaha
So did the delivery driver just casually walk in and show you that, or did you guys get to talking and he actually took the time to teach you? I'm always curious how those random knowledge drops happen.

inRant: Thought overdraft protection was saving me money, but it cost me $150 in fees in one month
Has anyone else noticed how we're all just one slip away from getting punished by fees these days... It's like the whole system is set up to trip you up the second you're not paying attention. I mean, overdraft protection sounded good on paper but it just turned into another way for them to grab money from me. And those low balance alerts are great until you get 50 of them and start tuning them out, right? It's kind of like how everything now has a subscription or a fee hidden somewhere, and you have to be hyper vigilant all the time or you get nickel and dimed. Feels like the whole world is designed to catch you when you're tired or distracted and make you pay for it.

inI finally stopped relying on those $5 hostel lockers after my phone got swiped in Barcelona
Oh man, you're bringing back a memory. My buddy Jake had this locker at the gym that he always complained about because it was janky. One day he forgot his combination and the front desk guy was like "oh just use a pen" and literally popped it open in two seconds with a Bic. Jake was so mad because he realized anyone could have gotten into his stuff anytime. He ended up switching to a different locker that had a better lock, but I don't think he ever trusted those things again. It's wild how many places use those cheap tubular locks and act like they're secure.
