Question about paying bills on the couch at 11pm vs the first Sunday of every month
I used to sit down every single Sunday morning with coffee and pay whatever bills had come in that week, one at a time, and it felt fine. Then I let it slide for about 3 months, paid a $45 late fee on my electric in Boise, and realized I was basically guessing at what was due. Now I do the whole month on the first Sunday, all at once, and it takes me 25 minutes. The part nobody mentions is that you need about $600 extra in checking to pull it off without overdrafting, which is why I couldn't do this 2 years ago. Has anyone else switched to monthly bill days and had it blow up on them?
Been there with the guessing game, and that late fee sting is real. The extra cushion is the part nobody warns you about, so you are not alone in that.
