Update: my checking account fee hit $35 a month and I didn't notice for 7 months
Did the math on my statements from a bank in Denver and it added up to $245 just to hold my own money. If your balance dips below $1,500 even once, does your bank slam you with a fee like this too?
Did you ever think $1,500 was just sitting there as a magic number to keep you from getting dinged? I went 7 months without noticing my own bleed so you are talking to the king of not reading statements. I honestly check my balance more than my email and still missed it, which says a lot about me. Mine was $35 a month too, so between us we could have bought a decent used couch with that money. Set a calendar reminder to peek at your statement once a month, it takes two minutes and saves you a couple hundred bucks a year.
