Noticed something weird at my friend's house last weekend
She pulled out an air fryer to make frozen chicken nuggets and just tossed them in without preheating. They came out super uneven, some were burnt on the edges and some were still cold in the middle. Has anyone else seen people skip preheating and get bad results?

Is it just me or is skipping basic steps becoming way too normal these days?

Wait is that actually a thing now, people not preheating air fryers? I mean that's like the whole point of an air fryer, the hot air needs to be moving fast from the start or you get soggy cold spots. @john_murphy you're totally right, it feels like folks are skipping steps just to save two minutes and ending up with worse food. I've seen people do this with toaster ovens too, just throw stuff in cold and it takes twice as long with half the crunch. Even the microwave you gotta let it warm up for a second if you're doing a big plate, otherwise the edges get rubbery while the center is frozen. So yeah, always preheat your air fryer or toaster oven, it's not optional unless you want burned outsides and raw insides. Have you ever caught anyone skipping the preheat on something else like a pan or oven?
