That time at my sister's house in Denver made me rethink how I use my air fryer

I was visiting my sister last weekend and she threw some frozen chicken wings straight into her air fryer at 400 degrees for 25 minutes. No oil spray, no flipping, no seasoning until they came out. They were actually crispy and good. I've been overcomplicating mine for months with marinades and preheating. Has anyone else tried skipping all the extra steps and just going for it?

Are you really telling me that frozen, unseasoned wings straight out of the bag were actually good? No oil at all? I mean, I guess air fryers are supposed to be magic, but that sounds like a recipe for dry, bland chicken to me. I've tried skipping steps before and ended up with food that was technically cooked but not worth eating. Usually a little oil and some salt or rub goes a long way, so I'm not ready to throw out the whole prep process just yet.

The air fryer still needs a little oil for real crispiness, just not as much.
