inSpent $450 on a cordless drywall screw gun and it cut my install time in half on a big Reno job.
Man I used to think those were a total waste of money. Like, a drill does the job, right? But I borrowed one from a buddy on a big ceiling job and holy crap. The auto-feed and depth control just makes it fly. It’s one of those things you don’t get until you try it, now I’m saving up for my own lol.

inMy kid asked me why we still pour iron the same way they did in his history book
Sometimes the old ways are the best ways because they just work.

inAppreciation post: My accountant told me to charge $120 an hour instead of $80, and I thought he was crazy (but he was right)
Spot this all the time with friends who freelance. They undercharge because they're scared no one will pay, then they're shocked when the higher rate actually gets more respect. It's like pricing a used car too low makes people think it's broken. My buddy doubled his design rate and suddenly clients stopped asking for a million tiny changes.

inI finally heard my old boss tell a new hire 'just figure it out' and it hit me
Honestly, that phrase just means they don't want to train you.

inThe server room flood that almost cost me my job
Ever think about how many places have water pipes right over critical gear? Saw a setup once where the main network switch was directly under an old AC drip pan. They only found out when it started raining on a Tuesday. That's just asking for trouble. Makes you want to check your own ceiling tiles, you know?
