Figured out that letting mud dry fully between coats is worth the wait.
The finish is SO much smoother when you don't rush it.

Watched my buddy try to rush a drywall patch in his bathroom. He slapped on the second coat while the first was still tacky. Ended up with a lumpy, speckled finish that needed two extra rounds of sanding to fix. He definitely learned that lesson the hard way.

But like, is it really that big of a deal? @rose_henderson, your buddy's wall isn't gonna fall down. So it looks a little lumpy, it's just a bathroom patch. People act like every home project needs to be perfect or the world ends. Sometimes you just gotta get it done and move on with your life.
