Heard a bride say she wanted 'just a few wildflowers' for her wedding next month
I was at a cafe and overheard a bride-to-be telling her friend she just wanted a simple bouquet of 'a few wildflowers' for her wedding in July. She had no idea about seasonality or availability. It made me realize we need to be clearer with clients up front. A 'few wildflowers' in a peak summer month could mean a huge rush order or sourcing from three different growers. I now start every consult by asking for their date first, then explaining what's actually growing then. Has anyone else found a good way to gently set those expectations without sounding like you're shutting down their dream?

My cousin runs a farm and the July heat can make certain wildflowers like Queen Anne's Lace go woody and tough in just a few days. I always show clients a picture of what a stem actually looks like at that exact time, not the perfect catalog shot. It changes the conversation from a vague idea to a real choice.

That's such a smart way to handle it, @the_dylan. Showing the real, imperfect version just cuts through all the guesswork. I've found the same thing when people see what's actually available that week, not some dream photo from months ago.

The wilted reality check works every time.
