inRunning a 40-ton truck crane on a tight city site versus a 150-ton crawler for the same lift
Used to think bigger was always better. Cranes, trucks, you name it. See a big rig, think it saves time. But that Chicago job changed my mind. Realized the extra setup and street closure problems aren't worth it if you're pinching pennies on small jobs. Sometimes the smaller rig is the smarter move even if it takes an extra day.

inTook me 6 tries to get my sourdough starter to actually double in size
Nah I used to think starter trouble was overblown. This changed my mind completely.

inDeli slicer jammed mid-rush and I lost a whole order of roast beef
Heard my buddy had a meat slicer catch fire mid-rush at Albertsons and just handed the customer a free deli platter to shut them up.

inThe old me would jump into a project without measuring once, now I draw everything out on graph paper first.
The whole "just wing it" approach to stuff like that is actually super common. So many people think they can eyeball measurements or skip the prep work because they're in a hurry or just confident. But nine times out of ten that's exactly how you end up with a crooked shelf or a lopsided picture frame. It's like the universe has a built-in penalty for skipping the basic steps. Maybe it's just me, but I've noticed that pattern with everything from furniture assembly to cooking, not just building stuff.

inMy neighbor's orchid finally bloomed after I moved it three feet to the left.
Wait, are we sure it was the light change and not something else? How do you know the plant wasn't just finally ready to bloom on its own schedule? Orchids can be finicky and sometimes just take a year to settle in before they decide to flower, regardless of where you put them. I've moved orchids around plenty of times and had them bloom a few months later, but I've also had the exact opposite happen where a plant stopped blooming after I shifted it to a "better" spot. Might just be coincidence, honestly.
