Just realized I torque to spec now instead of by feel, and my 3/8 wrench sits in the box
For about 12 years I'd snug a bolt by feel and call it good, mostly on the Cessna 172 annuals I've been doing out of a hangar in Peoria. Now I pull the torque wrench out for almost everything, even little stuff like cowl screws with a spec. It started after I found a rocker cover bolt on a 182 that I'd been running down by feel for who knows how long, and it was about 15 inch-pounds light. That bugged me for weeks. Anyone else go strictly by the book now, or do you still trust your arm on the small fasteners?
