Shoutout to the old torque wrench over the fancy digital one I got for my birthday
My wife got me a $180 digital torque wrench last year and I still grab my 20 year old click type for heads and oil pans. The digital one drifts about 4 ft lbs off after it sits in a cold hangar overnight, so I have to rezero it every single morning. Anybody else trust the click more than the screen, or am I just set in my ways?
Buddy of mine had the same thing happen with his fancy digital one, left it in his truck overnight in January and it read 6 lbs light the next morning on a head job. He went back to his old beam style and never looked back, said he'd rather trust a spring than a circuit board. Cold weather and electronics just don't mix when you need a number you can bet an engine on.
