Spent $150 on a borescope for a Cessna 172 and it saved my whole weekend

I was chasing a rough idle on a 172 last month, and the owner was flying out Monday morning. I was about to pull the cylinders, which would have been a huge job. Instead, I grabbed a cheap borescope I bought online for about $150. I found a broken valve spring guide in number three cylinder in about ten minutes. Fixed it that afternoon. It felt like cheating. Has anyone else had a simple tool pay for itself that fast on a small piston job?

Man, that's the best feeling. My little inspection camera found a cracked baffle in a Cherokee that was causing all sorts of weird temps. Saved me from chasing my tail for days.

Sometimes chasing your tail finds the real problem though.
