The night shift lead in Wichita told me to quit chasing torque by feel
I was doing brake work on a King Air at a shop in Wichita back in 2011, and I kept snugging bolts down until they felt right. The night lead watched me for a bit, then pulled out a beat up torque wrench and said "feel ain't a spec, kid." He made me back off every fastener and run them all again by the book. These days my first move on any job is grabbing the wrench and the manual sheet. Curious how many of you guys got taught the feel method first before someone set you straight.
