Walked away from my brother's landscaping crew after he told me Saturdays were 'part of the salary'

I put in 4 years on his crew, and when I pointed out I was pulling 55 hour weeks with no overtime, he said family doesn't nickel and dime each other. I quit that Friday, took a $3 pay cut at a city parks job, and now I clock out at 4pm with a pension. Anyone else had to pick between family peace and getting paid what they're worth?
