Blew past 1,000 episodes of One Piece last night and stopped to think about it.

I started watching One Piece about two years ago during my down time on the road. Last night I hit episode 1,047 and it hit me that I have spent over 350 hours just on this one show. Has anyone else ever realized they have put that much time into a single anime and wondered if it was worth it or not?

350 hours on a cartoon where nobody's pants stay on and the main character can't throw a proper punch? That's a 14 day vacation you could have spent somewhere real. One Piece is fine for background noise but acting like it's some deep experience when it's the same formula for 1000 episodes is kind of sad. The show literally repeats the same emotional beats over and over, Luffy gets beat up, then he gets mad, then he wins with some new power up. You could watch the first 50 episodes and get the entire point of the show without the other 950. At some point it's just sunk cost fallacy keeping you there, not actual enjoyment.

350 episodes in and you're still waiting for the pants to stay on? That's a you problem, @noah415. I've watched every single One Piece episode and I'm not gonna lie, some of the filler arcs drag but calling it the same formula over and over is like saying every pizza tastes the same because they all have dough and cheese. The whole "sunk cost" thing is cute but I've been genuinely invested since episode 1 and the world building alone is worth the time. You sound like someone who peaked on a beach vacation and can't handle a story that actually develops characters over decades.
