I second-guessed my choice to work remote and decided to come back to the office three days a week

For two years I was 100% remote at my marketing job in Austin, but after missing three big brainstorming sessions because of bad wifi at my coffee shop, I realized I was losing out on the spontaneous ideas that happen in person. I switched to a hybrid schedule starting last month, and my team lead said 'hey, glad to have you back in the mix' during our first Monday huddle. It's only been four weeks, but I've already revised two campaign strategies just from overhearing conversations at the whiteboard. Has anyone else reversed their stance on remote work after seeing how collaboration actually happens?

Nah, I gotta disagree. Spontaneous ideas are cool and all, but most of my best work came from deep focus time at home, not hallway chatter. Those whiteboard convos might seem productive now, but wait till you waste an hour on someone's half-baked concept that goes nowhere.

My buddy once spent 3 whole days on a whiteboard idea that sounded amazing at 4pm on a Thursday, only to realize it was basically just rearranging what we already had. Like @taylorm89 said, those hallway chats can feel electric but half the time it's just noise. I've had way more luck locking myself in a room with a cup of coffee and a clear goal than trying to catch lightning in a bottle with random drop-ins. Take my experience with a grain of salt, but I've seen too many good hours get eaten up by someone's "big idea" that never had legs.
