The shop foreman at my old job in Fort Worth said my paperwork was a mess, and he was right
I used to turn in job tickets with half the boxes blank because I figured the office would fill in the rest. My foreman pulled me aside after a 12 hour shift and said he spent 45 minutes every Friday just figuring out which machine I ran on which job. I started writing down the machine number and the run time on every single ticket even when I was dead tired, and my Friday checks stopped coming up short because payroll could actually read my hours. Anyone else get called out for something small that turned out to protect their own paycheck?
45 minutes every Friday" is the real cost here, and it wasn't even his own time he was losing. Small stuff like machine numbers feels pointless until you see how fast a messy ticket turns into a short check. Write it down right and nobody has to guess what you're owed.
