Foam mats from Harbor Freight beat the fancy acoustic panels for my upstairs neighbor's stomping
My upstairs neighbor walks like he's mad at the floor, so I tried those $40 sound panels first and they did almost nothing for the thumping. Then I grabbed a pack of interlocking foam mats for $18 at the Harbor Freight on 8th and laid them under my rug, and the thud dropped way more than the panels ever did. Panels kill echo, but the mats actually break up the impact noise coming through the ceiling. Anyone else find cheap gym flooring works better than the stuff marketed as soundproofing?
