I finally caved and bought a white noise machine for my upstairs neighbor's stomping

Been dealing with my neighbor's 2am footsteps for like 6 months straight. Tried foam earplugs, tried talking to him, even hung up those acoustic panels from Amazon for $40. Nothing worked until I got a $25 LectroFan from Target last week. Now I sleep through everything and honestly wish I just tried this first instead of wasting money on all that other stuff. Anyone else have a cheap fix that worked way better than the expensive options?

Wait, you hung acoustic panels on your ceiling for $40 and the stomping still came through?? That's insane, those things are supposed to muffle everything. I'm shocked you didn't try the cheap white noise route first honestly.

Did you try putting the machine right up against the wall or keep it by your bed? Just curious since I've seen people argue both ways.
