Figured out a rope trick for big branch removals that saved me 20 minutes per tree

I tried tying a running bowline on my lowering line instead of the usual clove hitch and the whole setup came down way faster without jamming, has anyone else switched to a different knot for their rigging?

Wait, are you talking about a running bowline or a running bowline on a bight? Cause a regular running bowline is basically a noose and that can lock up just as bad as a clove hitch under heavy load if you aren't careful. I use a double fisherman's bend on my rigging line to make a quick, non-jamming eye that sits loose on the carabiner, then just clip it to the sling around the branch. Takes two seconds to undo after the weight is off.

okay but is this REALLY a problem people run into that often? like are you doing heavy enough rigging where a clove hitch locking up is actually a concern or are we just overthinking this
