TIL a 60 year old oak can drink 300 gallons of water in one day
I mean, I always knew big trees pulled a lot of water, but 300 gallons? That's like three bathtubs full every single day. Saw it in a forestry service bulletin from 2019 while looking up root damage stuff for a job out in Round Rock. Makes me rethink how I approach soil moisture around mature trees, especially when clients want to pour concrete nearby. Has anyone else run into a mature oak struggling after a patio install?
