Field school dig in Montana raised more questions than answers
Last month I spent two weeks on a surface survey near the Milk River and we found a lot of flakes and a few fire-cracked rocks, but nothing diagnostic. Our crew lead thinks it might be a short-term camp from the Late Archaic, but I keep second-guessing the context. Has anyone else had a site that just refuses to fit a neat timeline?

Man, my buddy worked a site in the Bighorns for three seasons and it never made sense either. Just flakes everywhere and one broken point that could've been from like six different time periods. He finally just called it "indeterminate" in his report and moved on.
