Field school dig in Montana raised more questions than answers

Last month I spent two weeks on a surface survey near the Milk River and we found a lot of flakes and a few fire-cracked rocks, but nothing diagnostic. Our crew lead thinks it might be a short-term camp from the Late Archaic, but I keep second-guessing the context. Has anyone else had a site that just refuses to fit a neat timeline?
