Found a 200-year-old survey marker under six layers of paint on a trim job in Savannah last month
I was scraping baseboards in a historic house and realized that little brass disc was a city boundary marker from 1821, has anyone else stumbled across old artifacts in their work?

Scraped off enough layers of wallpaper in a Victorian to reveal a hand-painted mural of the original owner's hunting dogs from the 1890s. Took photos of it before we had to reluctantly cover it back up with a modern backing. Felt like I was the first person to see that artwork in maybe a hundred years.

Pull a razor knife across it at a corner first next time. Sometimes you can score the backing and peel the new wallpaper right off without touching the mural underneath. Saved my bacon on a fireplace surround once.
