Looking at the new scans of the Lascaux cave paintings really hit me
I saw a side by side of a photo from the 1960s and the latest 3D laser scan from last year. The detail you can see now in the horse figures is crazy, like you can see individual tool marks from 17,000 years ago. It made me realize how much we were missing before we had this tech. Has anyone else seen a find where new tech totally changed what we knew about it?

Totally get what you mean. I felt the same way seeing the new scans of the Dead Sea Scrolls. Before, some parts were just black smudges, but with that fancy imaging they can now read letters and words they thought were lost forever. It's like getting a new page of a story we only had half of. What other old stuff do you think we're still only seeing half the picture of?

The scans of the Sutton Hoo helmet were a game changer. Honestly, the old photos just showed a rusty lump, but the new ones show all the detailed animal patterns. Makes you wonder what else is hiding in plain sight.
