The 'Viking sword' I was sure was a tourist fake turned out to be 900 years old
A guy brought in this rusty blade to our local history group, and I laughed thinking it was some ren faire prop. Then the lab results came back with carbon dating and trace metal analysis from a university. Has anyone else had their skepticism totally wrecked by hard evidence like that?

I mean think about it, you're just some person with a beat up old blade, you walk into a history group meeting, and next thing you know a university is running tests on it. That's like finding out your grandpa's old pocket watch is worth a million bucks. Did they say how the guy even got it in the first place?
