Have you seen those articles about how people copy turns of phrase from books they love? I read somewhere that a lot of writers unconsciously pick up words from their favorite authors. Like, someone might start using 'utterly' all the time after reading Jane Austen or something. It's funny how we don't even notice we're doing it until someone points it out. Makes me wonder what phrases I've copied without knowing.
