Serious question, my neighbor swore by the penny trick for deciding stuff and now I owe him dinner
Back in March my neighbor Ray, who is 71 and fixes lawnmowers in his garage, told me to flip a penny any time I couldn't pick between two things, and to just go with whatever side landed up. I tried it on a coin flip for a used kayak versus a $200 repair on my old one, penny came up tails so I kept the old one, and two weeks later the kayak guy sold it to someone else who found a cracked hull. Now Ray wants me to flip a penny on whether I should repaint my shed or replace the door first, and I honestly can't tell if he is messing with me. Does anyone here actually use a random trick like this for real choices, or is it just something old guys say at the fence?
