The way I used to just ask random strangers for directions back in 2015

Honestly, it hit me the other day when I was lost near a park in Portland. Now everyone just stares at their phone instead of talking to each other. Has anyone else noticed how people don't even look up anymore?

Actually I gotta push back on this a bit. "The way I used to just ask random strangers for directions" - that's exactly the thing, back in 2015 people asked for directions because they had no choice. Now we have maps on our phones that are way more accurate than some random person who might send you the wrong way. I remember asking a guy in Boston for directions once and he gave me this whole confusing story about a landmark that didn't even exist anymore. Got totally lost. So yeah, I kind of prefer people looking at their phones instead of giving me bad advice. Plus it's not like nobody talks to strangers at all, I still see plenty of people chatting in line at coffee shops or at parks. It's just that phones solved a specific problem that used to force us to rely on strangers who often had no idea what they were talking about.
