I'll take a noisy single frame over hours of stacked data for planetary shots
Everyone in this group seems to swear by stacking thousands of frames for Jupiter and Saturn. I tried it a few times... spent 4 hours on one night last month with 12,000 frames and the result looked like a watercolor painting. Smeared, soft, no detail. Then I grabbed a single 1/60th second shot on the same scope and it was crisp as hell. I know the science says stacking averages out the atmosphere, but my seeing conditions here outside Tucson are so bad that the lucky single frame wins every time. Am I alone in this? Has anyone else gone back to single captures after the stacking craze?

Man, it's a hobby, not a courtroom case. If the single frame looks good to you then who cares what the science says, right? I'd probably still stack a few just to see, but if you're happy with one shot then just roll with it.
