My $900 star tracker ate it in the backyard at 1am and I still think the haters are wrong
Everyone keeps telling new folks to skip the tracker and just stack shorter shots, but my mount died mid-session in my backyard in Sacramento around 1am and I still got a cleaner Orion Nebula from 40 stacked 30-second subs than any of my 400-shot untracked tries. The RA motor just quit with a little click and no error light, so I swapped back to my tripod and kept shooting anyway. Has anyone had a Sky-Watcher motor die like that, and did a firmware reflash actually fix it or am I buying a new one?
