The $15 magnetic drain plug that had me eating crow
Picked up one of those cheap magnetic drain plugs off Amazon for my '05 Silverado, figured it was a gimmick. Three oil changes later I pulled it out and the tip was covered in a fine grey sludge, like metallic paste. Sent a sample to a buddy who runs a lab in Phoenix, he said it was normal wear but the magnet caught it before it circulated. Now I tell every customer who laughs at the $15 part to just try it once. Anyone else run these long term or see actual damage prevented?
