TIL I was wiring shield grounds backwards on nav antenna lines for 3 years

I was doing shield termination at the connector backshell, grounding at the pin end instead of the entry point on our King KX-155 installs in the hangar at KAPA. A senior guy glanced at my work last Tuesday and asked why my pigtails were so long, then showed me his 1/2 inch stub. I know the manual says single point grounding but I never checked the diagram, anyone else learn this the hard way after years of clean-looking but wrong terminations?

That antenna trick only works if nobody checks your work before you leave.
