PSA: Stop saying "I'll pay you back" to family without a date and number
My brother borrowed $2,400 from our mom in January and just kept saying "soon" every time she brought it up. I finally sat them both down at her kitchen table in Toledo and made him say the exact amount and the exact Friday he would pay it. The talk was brutal for 20 minutes but she got $300 the next week, which never happened when it was just "soon." Has anyone else gotten a parent to stop accepting vague promises like this?
