I finally finished the JMT section I bailed on two years ago
Back in 2022 I had to turn around at Evolution Creek because the water was way too high for me to cross safely. This September I went back and did that entire stretch from Piute Pass down to MTR in 5 days. The crossing was still knee deep but I took it slow with trekking poles and it went fine. What I learned is that coming back to a route with more experience makes a huge difference. Anyone else ever revisit a trail section they couldn't finish the first time?

Biggest change was remembering not to bail this time.

Did you train any differently for this second attempt? Like specifically for the water crossing or just overall fitness and gear choices. I ask because I had a similar situation on the High Sierra Trail last year where I had to skip a section due to altitude sickness. When I went back I focused a lot on hydration and taking Diamox ahead of time, and it made a night and day difference in how my body handled the elevation. What was the biggest change you made compared to 2022 besides just having more trail miles under your belt?
