Last Wednesday around 2 PM, our IT guy Dave ran a script he found on a forum to speed up backups and ended up deleting six months of regional sales records, and we're still finding missing entries - has anyone else had a coworker do something like this with no testing?

Was at REI in Denver last Saturday picking up a new stove. Overheard this guy telling his friend the JMT is not worth the hassle anymore with the lottery system and limited permits. Said he prefers doing section hikes in the Wind Rivers instead. I've done the JMT twice, last time in 2018. Permits were a pain but the trail was still incredible. But I get his point too - waiting months to maybe get a permit, then fighting crowds. Which side are you on? Is the JMT still worth fighting for or are there better long trails out west now that don't need all that planning?

Last Wednesday the heating broke in our building around 10 AM. By noon it was 62 degrees in our cubicle farm. I asked my manager if we could go home. He said no because the servers were fine. Three people put on winter coats and kept typing. I sat there with my fingers turning blue entering data into spreadsheets. The weirdest part was that nobody complained except me. Has anyone else had a workplace just refuse to acknowledge basic human comfort?
