Built a 6x3 raised bed from free pallets last spring, got way more tomatoes than I knew what to do with
So back in March I grabbed like 8 pallets off a job site in Fresno and threw together a 6x3 bed in one weekend. I lined it with cardboard, filled it with a mix of topsoil and compost, and figured I'd get a few sad plants like always. Ended up with 40 plus tomatoes off four plants by August, way more than my old cedar bed ever gave me. Now I'm wondering if it was the extra depth or the pallet wood breathing better, has anyone else seen a scrap wood bed outproduce a store bought one?
